2026 Annual Conference (April 15, 2026)

We invite you to join us at the 66th NSELA Annual Conference in Anaheim, California, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, for a transformative day dedicated to the art and science of leadership. This year, we challenge the notion of leaders as simple managers of programs; instead, we celebrate you as the intentional architects of science education. This conference is a call to action to shift from reactive problem-solving to proactive design, helping you build coherent, equitable systems that support innovative teaching and deep, authentic learning for every student.

Our program is built to empower you with strategies that drive meaningful change and enhance Framework-based teaching. You will have the opportunity to engage with four focused learning strands: Designing for Place (Community-Centered Learning), Designing for People (Cultivating Professional Growth), Designing for Impact (Data-Informed Systems), and Designing for Tomorrow (Harnessing Innovation). Whether you are crafting professional learning plans or launching district-wide strategic initiatives, these sessions will provide the tools you need to lead with creativity and purpose.

Beyond the workshops, the NSELA Annual Conference is a vital hub for connection. It is a unique opportunity to network with a passionate community of peers who are deeply invested in student success. Come share your expertise, gain new insights, and collaborate on the ideas that will shape the future of our field. Register today to secure your place in this conversation and return to your district ready to make a lasting impact.

To learn more, please visit the Annual Conference website.

Performance Tasks and AI For Grading: Digging Deeper with Rubrics (April 29, 2026)

Presenters: Nicole Holman & Matt Christiansen (NSELA Professional Learning Committee)

Description

This webinar will expand upon the previous webinar on developing performance tasks, with an emphasis on leveraging AI for grading. Participants will also explore how artificial intelligence can support the development of clear, standards-aligned rubrics and assist with efficient, consistent grading while still allowing teachers to provide meaningful feedback. Participants will develop and implement as a community of practice, a rubric to support evaluation, and practical strategies for leveraging AI to streamline the assessment process while maintaining high expectations for student learning.
