About the Events:

Calling all MS/HS science teachers! Join developer Jon Griffith and featured scientists from the University of Colorado Boulder as they guide participants through the latest Data Puzzles, a resource that combines classroom-friendly scientific datasets with the research-backed instructional practices of Ambitious Science Teaching to help students make sense of phenomena. Webinar participants will receive a 1-hr PD certificate from the University of Colorado Boulder!

Not All Warming is Equal (Register here)

·  Wednesday, January 24th, 12:30-1:30 pm PT, 1:30-2:30 pm MT, 2:30-3:30 pm CT, 3:30-4:30 pm ET

·  Overview: Join curriculum developer Jon Griffith and climate modeler Dave Schneider as they walk you through the Not All Warming is Equal Data Puzzle, a 2-day MS/HS lesson in which students explore the inequities of climate change by analyzing global carbon dioxide concentration and temperature datasets.

To Reflect or Not to Reflect (Register here)

·  Wednesday, January 31st, 12:30-1:30 pm PT, 1:30-2:30 pm MT, 2:30-3:30 pm CT, 3:30-4:30 pm ET

·  Overview: Join curriculum developer Jon Griffith and climate modeler Dave Schneider as they walk you through the To Reflect or Not to Reflect Data Puzzle, a 2-day MS/HS lesson in which students analyze Arctic sea ice and albedo datasets to explore/explain why the Arctic is warming 4x faster than the rest of the world. Note that this lesson is a nice complement to the Not All Warming is Equal Data Puzzle.

Wildfire, Drought, and the Future of Forests (Register here)

·  Wednesday, February 7th, 12:30-1:30 pm PT, 1:30-2:30 pm MT, 2:30-3:30 pm CT, 3:30-4:30 pm ET

·  Overview: Join curriculum developer Jon Griffith and fire ecologists as they walk you through the Wildfire, Drought, and the Future of Forests Data Puzzle, a 2-day MS/HS lesson in which students analyze post-fire tree regeneration datasets from the US Rocky Mountains to explore/explain how changing climate conditions are impacting post-fire succession patterns.
