Regional Director Position Description
Term of Service: Elected position, three-year term, June 1-May 31
Major function or purpose of office:
Serves on NSELA’s Board as a representative of science leaders from one of NSELA’s six regions.
Contributing member of one of the standing committees
NSELA Board
Serves as voting member
Carefully reviews information requiring Board approval, including the budget
Attends spring Board meeting prior to NSTA National Conference (travel covered by NSELA)
Attends fall Board meeting if convened (travel covered by NSELA)
Participates in monthly evening virtual Board meetings
Submits reports of activity to the President, Executive Director and NSELA Board
Other duties as assigned by the President
Submit Annual Board Report prior to Spring Board meeting
Communication to their region from NSELA and from the region to NSELA
Utilizes the NSELA Wild Apricot platform for communication with the region members as appropriate, such as welcoming new members and encouraging lapsed members to renew their membership
Seek opportunities to highlight regional or national activities, awards, and affiliates to submit to the Communication Committee
Utilize the WildApricot platform to encourage submission of OLISE, VESELS, and *HELT award candidates. (*new award pending sponsorship to fund)
Collaboration within the Region Director Group
Support the onboarding of incoming Regional Directors
Stay connected with the other Regional Directors
