Presenter: Elizabeth Johnson, Denver Public Schools
Learn how students have revolutionized culturally and linguistically sustaining teaching and learning in Denver Public Schools. Engage with student stories, research, and district leaders to understand how one district is changing the narrative of how to select high quality instructional materials. Participants will leave with knowledge and resources to determine what science instructional materials are culturally and linguistically sustaining.
This session will help district and school science leaders learn how to select high quality instructional materials that center ALL of our students' cultures and linguistic repertoires. Participants will engage with Dr. Bryan Brown's research, the students' stories that launched the work, and the Culturally and Sustaining Material Audit Tool.
